Co-operatives Agri-Biz & Commodities - Farm credit States - Tamil Nadu Co-op banks grant Rs 86 cr as farm loans Our Bureau Perambalur, Aug. 19 Co-operative banks have extended farm loans to the tune of Rs 86.69 crore to over 47,600 farmers of the composite Perambalur district in the last couple of years. After the State Government’s decision to waive pending farm loans, the co-operative banks sanctioned short-term loans of Rs 79.31 crore to 41,028 farmers and Rs 7.38 crore as medium-term loans to 6,633 farmers. Under the micro credit scheme, 1,276 women were sanctioned Rs 25.30 lakh and 522 men received Rs 15.90 lakh, a press release of the District Collector, Mr Anil Meshram, issued here on Tuesday said. The banks have extended Rs 6.30 crore as loans to 1,162 women’s self-help groups and also jewel loans to the tune of Rs 367.36 crore. A couple of primary agricultural co-operative banks, which were closed in the district, were revived in the recent past and they provided Rs 16.24 lakh as loans to farmers.
