‘Kraft paper mills in dire straits’

Kochi, Aug. 20

S outh Indian Kraft Paper Mills Association has expressed concern over the scarcity of wastepaper and imposition of power restrictions, which according to the association, is affecting kraft paper production. A meeting of the association in Kochi pointed out that a majority of the kraft paper mills in the State are in dire straits because of scarcity of wastepaper. The kraft paper mills in the State, which normally produces 500 to 600 tonnes a day, is now producing only 300-400 tonnes because of the 25 per cent power cut imposed in the State. Besides, the input cost had also gone up tremendously resulting in increase in the prices of finished products. – Our Bureau
