Spot rubber unchanged in low key trade

Aravindan

Kottayam, Aug. 21 Spot rubber was unchanged on Thursday. The trading activities were in an extremely low key even after a day’s break on Wednesday.

Most of the traders remained inactive waiting for a clear trend to emerge amidst better weather conditions. Sheet rubber RSS 4 closed flat at Rs 137 a kg as on Tuesday.

Major manufacturers continued to stay back though there has been no selling pressure in the main marketing centres from dealers or growers.

The domestic market appeared to be suffering from a downward pull at higher levels as it still rules much above the international rates.

Futures improve

RSS 3 (spot) improved to Rs 123.21 (122.10) a kg at Bangkok. The grade showed a mixed trend in futures quoting its August contract at ¥320.4 (Rs 128.42) against ¥319.2, September at ¥315 (314.7), October at ¥309.2 (309.5), November at ¥305.1 (305.6), December at ¥303.3 (300.1) and January at ¥301.2 (298) a kg at TOCOM.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 137 (137); RSS-5: 134.50 (134.50); ungraded: 128 (128); ISNR 20: 131.50 (131.50) and latex 60 per cent: 81 (81).
