Harita Seating plans venture with German co

Chennai, Aug 21 Harita Seating Systems has informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that the company proposes to enter into a joint venture with F S Fehrer Automotive GmbH, Germany, an international specialist in vehicle interior components.

This marks Harita Seating Systems’ entry into the passenger car segment.The joint venture company will manufacture polyurethane moulded foam pads for seats and plastic components and two-wheeler seats . The company has the capacity to expand its product portfolio into armrests and head rests.

Company sources said it has been supplying to two-wheeler, commercial vehicles, buses and off-the-road vehicles. The tie-up with F S Fehrer would help the company foray into the passenger car segment also. It would make interior parts and seat forms for cars. Besides, it would also help the company meet European norms.

The joint venture company would have a dedicated facility at Hosur. Later it might look at other locations for setting up a manufacturing facility.
