Hardware Xerox unveils series of printers for enterprise users Anand Parthasarathy Bangalore, Aug. 22 The dominant global player at the high end of the laser printer spectrum – Xerox – has strengthened its line-up for this market segment with the India launch of a series of multifunction models. The company has released three new models in the “WorkCentre range” – all colour print-copy-fax-scan machines in the A3 format. Ranging from the 40 pages per minute model 7655 to the 26 ppm model 7328 and the 10 ppm model 7232, costing Rs 9 lakh, Rs 6 lakh and Rs 3 lakh, respectively (the scan/fax attachment is Rs 60,000 extra). These are aimed at enterprise users who print high volumes of colour every month – and for them the printers represent significant efficiency and cost control, Xerox India’s Managing Director, Mr Andrew Horne, told Business Line. Xerox also launched two “Phaser” multi function colour printers – the 20 ppm type 6180 laser (Rs 1.8 lakh), and the type 8860, which works on solid ink technology. This patented process replaces the liquid of inkjet printers with solid colour sticks and enables Xerox to claim the most economical colour print in the industry – Rs 2 a print. The machine is priced Rs 1.4 lakh. Mr Princy Bhatnagar, Xerox India’s Director, Office Business, adds that the 30 ppm solid ink Phaser 8860 machine gives a 90 per cent reduction of waste and is capable of delivering 1.2 lakh images per month.
