‘Stop telecasting Axe ads’

New Delhi, Aug. 23

Observing that content of the advertisement of Axe Dark Temptation Deodorant, currently being aired, is ‘indecent and vulgar’, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has requested the Indian Broadcasting Foundation to advise its member channels to avoid broadcasting it to avoid punitive action in future. The Ministry has also requested the Advertising Standards Council of India to provide details of complaints received and action taken by Consumer Complai nts Council (if any) against the advertisement of ‘Axe Dark Temptation Deodorant’, an official release said here on Friday. In case no such formal complaint has been received, the Ministry letter itself is to be treated as one and appropriate action may be initiated. —
