The Hindu Business Line : DuPont introduces photovoltaic solutions

New Delhi, Aug. 23 DuPont India has announced the introduction of its new market facing business initiative DuPont Photovoltaic Solutions (DPVS) in India.

DuPont Photovoltaic Solutions will offer a variety of advanced materials from several DuPont businesses to enable the country’s photovoltaic (PV) industry to increase lifetime and efficiency of solar modules and improve the productivity of PV module makers.

The DPVS product portfolio includes films, resins, encapsulant sheets, flexible substrates, and conductive pastes for both crystalline silicon and thin film modules to the PV industry in India.

Improving efficiency

Through investments in materials, technology development and manufacturing, DuPont is accelerating its ability to improve the lifetime and efficiency of PV cells and modules.

Mr Marc Doyle, Global Business Director, DuPont Photovoltaic Solutions, said, “The most important factor for continued rapid market growth is to invest in solutions that meet the needs of this market. Following the global strategy of ‘go where the growth is’, India has been identified as having a high potential for market growth in solar energy and this segment will drive the company’s strategic growth in the country.”

To support the solar energy market in India, the company plans to establish a PV lab by 2010 at the DuPont Knowledge Center in Hyderabad. This lab will provide technical and research facility support to DuPont customers in the solar energy industry.
