NetMagic to ramp up operations

L.N. Revathy

Coimbatore, Aug. 24 Managed IT service provider NetMagic Solutions, which specialises in Internet data centres, managed hosting, network operations and remote infrastructure management (RIM), finds the present trend for such services ‘encouraging’.

“IT bigwigs have found that there is huge potential in operating captive data centres. Multinationals have set up captive back offices to service their global customers and the domestic enterprises that have witnessed phenomenal growth in recent years perceive the need for such a service 24x7, necessitating the creation of third-party data centres. Convergence of technologies, domain expertise and falling bandwidth tariffs is making India a hot data hosting and RIM site for global enterprises,” Mr Sharad Sanghi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, NetMagic Solutions said.

The company is looking to ramp up its operations by building more data centres and enhancing the facilities in the existing one in Mumbai. Its third facility in Mumbai and fourth data centre in India at Vikhroli in Mumbai went live in July.

The first hall of this 40,000 sq feet facility, which became operational, offers over 15,000 sq ft raised floor space. “The civil work is on in the other two halls. It should be ready within the next couple of months. We are receiving enquiries,” Mr Sanghi said.

The company is in the process of doubling the size of its first and existing data centre in Mumbai. Mr Sanghi revealed that the company proposed to build a facility in Chennai and was looking for space in New Delhi.

“We have identified 30,000 sq ft space in Chennai. We will take possession by end-September, commence the work on data centre fit out and go live by March 2009.”

“We are also contemplating a facility in Hyderabad, but are not looking at the proposition actively now. May be in the second half of 2009,” he added.

BroadGroup Consulting expects the data centre market in India to exceed $1.5 billion in value by 2010.
