Outlook Pidilite aims at higher sales to fuel growth Our Bureau Hyderabad, Aug. 24 Pidilite Industries Ltd hopes to drive its growth in turnover by an increase in sales volume across all six business groups, according to Mr Vishal Vijay Malhan, Head (Marketing). “We expect to touch Rs 2,000 crore by the end of the current financial year from Rs 1,700 crore earned last year,” he told newspersons here. Apart from concentrating on the adhesive division, the company is also looking at other divisions such as construction chemicals, auto care and maintenance products. “We are looking at promoting a concept called ‘do-it-yourself’, where products can be used directly by a housewife or children instead of a specialist doing the job,” he said. Hobby IdeaThe company also plans to open more Hobby Idea outlets across the country. “These outlets offer a range of hobby and craft products. The products are complemented with books, videos and training workshops to make hobby fun and easy for hobby enthusiasts,” he said. The company has opened these outlets in Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bangalore. Mr Malhan said the size of the adhesive market in the country is around 5,000 tonnes a month and the company has an overall market share of 60 per cent. Earlier, Mr Nitin Killawala, President of Institute of Indian Interior Designers, said architects and interior designers need to collaborate with public authorities to serve the community at large. “Only around four to five per cent of the population is served by architects and designers. The larger population still thinks that these services are for the rich and the elite. If this myth has to be broken then collaboration with public authorities is very important,” he said. Mr Killawala was here to deliver a special address as part of the Pidilite Knowledge Series. Pidilite launching new product More Stories on : Outlook | Diversification
