Tea Strong demand for CTCs at N. India sale Our Bureau Kolkata, Aug 24 Last week, the CTC teas once again met with strong demand at around last levels with selected fannings and dusts tending dearer at times. The major blender was active while there was good support from Tata Tea and other packeteers. Western India buyers supported the liquoring categories while other internal and local buyers as well as exporters operated as usual. Darjeeling whole leaf grades were irregularly around last following quality with few plainer sorts seeing a decline. Brokens were an easier trend while fannings sold readily at irregularly lower rates. Traditional exporters and packeteers operated. Some enquiries were there from the UK/Continent and local buyers In the orthodox sale, whole leaf and bolder brokens were irregularly lower while smaller brokens tended firm. Fannings were firm and at times dearer. West Asian and CIS shippers were active. North India buyers and local buyers operated with enquiry from the major blender on the fannings. CROPMost plantations districts reported seasonable weather and normal green leaf intake. INTERNATIONAL MARKETSThe Mombasa market was generally firm to dearer for all sorts. Pakistan Egyptian packers were active while the UK and Kazakhstan showed good enquiries. The Colombo auction saw an easier market with Low Growns in particular declining sharply in value.
