Foreign vessel seized

Visakhapatnam, Aug. 25

Officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence recently seized a vessel off Kakinada coast as the crew were allegedly selling diesel meant for their operations to local fishermen at half the price, according to a press release issued by Mr Arun Tandon, Additional Director-General, DRI zonal unit, Chennai. Cash totalling $1.17 lakh was seized from the vessel, Capitol T2001, and three Indonesians, including the master of the vessel, were arrested. They were subsequently produced before the Special Judge for Economic Offences, Nampally (Hyderabad), and were remanded to custody for two weeks, the release said. The seized vessel and the barge attached to it are valued at Rs 10.21 crore. - Our Bureau
