Steamer agents' mite for ocean race

Kochi, Aug. 25

Cochin Steamer Agents Association has contributed Rs 25 lakh to Cochin Port in support of the public infrastructure modernisation drive being undertaken by the port for facilitating the first Indian stopover of Volvo Ocean Race, schedule to be held here in December. Mr Rajesh G. Asher, President, Cochin Steamer Agents Association, handed over the cheque to Mr N. Ramachandran, Chairman, Cochin Port Trust, in the presence of Capt Subhash Kumar, Dy Chairman, and other senior port officials and committee members of the steamer agents' association. As Willingdon Island is going to be in the limelight of the world media during the Volvo Ocean Race Stopover, the port is upgrading the public spaces and public infrastructure in the north end of Willingdon Island with the support of its stakeholders. - Our Bureau
