Agri Gold launches hybrid rice seeds

Hyderabad, Aug. 26

Agri Gold Food and Farm Products Ltd, an arm of the Rs 500-crore Agri Gold Group, is into the marketing of hybrid seed varieties in rice and vegetables and organic fertilisers. Mr Sitaram Avvas, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Agri Gold, said the company had established sales and distribution networks in nine States. “We have a processing plant at Vijayawada. We are going to set up another in Vizianagaram district with an investment of Rs 20 crore in order to increase the capacity,” he told Business Line. The group has interests in construction, agri products, processed foods, hospitality and healthcare. While the construction segment contributed Rs 200 crore, agri and allied businesses contributed Rs 100 crore in 2007-08. The company hope to double the contribution from agri and allied businesses in the next two years. —
