Tea Good demand for teas at Coimbatore auction Our Bureau Coimbatore, Aug. 26 Total offerings at sale 34, held at the Tea Trade Association, Coimbatore amounted to 5.01 lakh kg, of which leaf grades accounted for 2.07 lakh kg and the remaining 2.94 lakh kg of tea dust. There was good demand for the orthodox leaf from CIS and West Asian exporters. The prices for Nilgiri high grown well made brokens/fannings moved up and mediums followed the upward trend. There was good demand for the orthodox dust grades. Few exporters and internal buyers picked these teas. Primary grades remained firm, there were some withdrawals. CTC leaf easyThere was fair demand for the CTC leaf. The prices eased by Re 1 to Rs 3 on plainer sorts. While major blenders remained selective and operated on few lines, internal buyers and packeteers lent fair support. Exporters operated on bolder grades. Most CTC dust varieties ruled lower by up to Rs 3, except for some good liquoring teas, which ruled firm. Major blenders were selective, internal buyers and packeteers supported the market. Best high grown CTC dust touched a high of Rs 90, while the plain CTC leaf moved in the Rs 60-66 range band. The orthodox brokens ranged between Rs 75-93. More Stories on : Tea
