Great Lakes to host conclave on human resources

Chennai, Aug. 27Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai will host the Human Resources Conclave on September 2 in the city.

The central theme of the conclave is built around ‘Managing human capital in the globalised business environment’.

“The summit will be an opportunity for corporates and the academic community to come together to ideate, internalise and identify implementable solutions for the economic and social wellbeing of our nation,” says Dr. Bala V. Balachandran, Dean, Great Lakes Institute of Management.

Some of the subjects to be covered under the main theme include, managing diversity in workplaces, integration of corporate cultures and people management post-merger.

“Managing diversity has its own set of benefits and challenges. It means managing communication gaps, tolerance towards different cultures and attitudes,” says Allen Sequeira, senior Vice President, Human Resources, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

The conclave would explore these aspects of managing diverse culture and also focus on industry specific insights from representatives from various industries. There will be representation from different industrial verticals such as consulting, manufacturing, IT, retail, media & entertainment, medical care and education. The summit will host HR leaders from global companies who will offer perspectives on doing business with a global presence.

The HR summit will also help students get a birds-eye view of how the corporate machinery operates in identifying, capturing, compensating and retaining the best talent in a global marketplace.

The organisers expect over 200-250 HR managers from the middle management to participate in the event.

Chandrasekaran, President and Managing Director, Cognizant, Mr K. Prabakar, Vice-President, Corporate HR, Apollo Hospitals, Mr T.V. Rao, Chairman, TV Rao Learning Systems, Mr Satish Pradhan, Executive Vice-President, Group HR, Tata Sons, Dr. Chandrasekhar Sripada, President, HR, Capgemini Consulting India Pvt Ltd, Mr B. Venkataramana, Senior Vice-President, HR, Reliance Retail Ltd and Mr Lancelot Cutinha, Vice-President, HR, Big FM.
