Hyderabad, Aug. 28 Oriental Insurance Company Ltd will focus on providing value-added services to its customers and expand its emergency roadside assistance scheme across the country soon.

The value-added services would drive more people to general insurance, Mr Ramadoss, Chairman and Managing Director, Oriental Insurance, said at the launch of ‘Oriental-MyTVS Emergency Roadside Assistance’ in the State here on Thursday.

Measures such as aggregate claim settlements in one single office in major cities to reduce turnaround time and setting up of exclusive offices for corporate clients were being taken up, he said.

On the performance, Mr Ramadoss said despite a likely hit of Rs 60-70 crore on liability gains, the company was expecting a profit after tax of about Rs 400 crore this year.

Mr R Srivatchan, President, T V Sundram Iyengar & Sons, said over 20,000 stranded four-wheeler passengers were offered help in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka by MyTVS so far.

Mr CR Muralidharan, member, Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority, said general insurance segment of public insurers had grown by 8-9 per cent in 2006-07.

In 2007-08, the health and motor insurance segments had grown by 18 per cent and 46 per cent with Rs 5,000 crore and Rs 12,900 crore premium underwritten, respectively, he said.

Oriental-MyTVS emergency road assistance programme would help stranded customers of Oriental Insurance to get assistance free of cost to repair their vehicles, get transported by cabs to their destinations, among others. The services can be accessed through a toll-free number.
