BEL chief bags award

Bangalore, Aug. 28

Mr V.V.R.Sastry, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Electronics Ltd, has won the ELCINA-Dun & Bradstreet Electronics Man of the Year Award for 2007-08. The award given by the Electronics Industries Association of India recognises individual efforts towards growth of the electronics industry in India. The award will be presented in New Delhi on September 10. Previous recipients of the award instituted in 1987 include Mr Ratan Tata, Mr N.R. Narayana Murthy, Mr Azim Premji, Prof U.R. Rao, besides BEL’s former CMD, Mr Y. Gopala Rao, who got it in 2003-04, a BEL release said. Mr Sastry, an engineering and science gradate from Andhra University, joined BEL-Bangalore in 1969, and has 39 years of experience in development and engineering, manufacturing, project management, technology management and marketing. – Our Bureau
