SSI States - Karnataka Karnataka small industries seek suitable exit option Our Bureau Mangalore, Aug. 29 Representatives from small-scale industries have urged the Karnataka Government to formulate suitable exit option for people in the sector. Participating in an interactive meeting with the officials of the State Government on Karnataka State Industrial Policy for 2008-13 at Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) here on Friday, Mr Srinivasa Achar, former President of District Small Industries Association (DSIA), Yeyyadi, Mangalore, said that if an entrepreneur gets stuck in small-scale industries sector due to some reasons, the entire system is against the person. The policy should focus on an exit route where a legally constituted committee should decide on the assets and liabilities of the person concerned. Agreeing with him, Mr Sumith Rao, President of DSIA, suggested that the new industrial policy could consider a single-window system for exiting from the sector. On the opposition to land acquisition for industrial projects, he said the proposed policy should consider the land losers as stakeholders in the projects. Mr K. Jayaraj Pai, President of the Kanara Small Industries Association, said that the new policy should include “beach tourism and health parks” on its list of sector specific zones. The new policy proposes sector specific zones for steel, cement, food processing, IT/BT, automobile and readymade garments. Mr M. Sujnana Murthy, Joint Director, Industrial Development, Karnataka, said that suggestions are being accepted from industry associations across the State on the draft industrial policy for 2008-13. Such an interactive meeting was held in Mysore and a similar meeting will be held in Gulbarga soon. More Stories on : SSI | Karnataka
