Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Aug. 30 The number of Indian students in New Zealand is on steady rise, according to Mr Paul Vaughan, its trade commissioner.

Last year, the number of student visa applications from India had grown 131 per cent to 4,000. “We are expecting a significant increase this year. Already, 3,800 new visas have been issued to Indian students,” Mr Vaughan said in the inaugural function of ‘New Zealand Education Fair 2008’ on Saturday.

The foreign students would also be given a visa for search of jobs there after completion of their courses. “They can stay there for 12 months to find a job,” he said in a release.
