Opinion - Letters
Lessons from Singur

The article “A morning at Singur” (Business Line, August 28) will definitely open the eyes of the nation. For those who are not well-informed about the agitation at Singur, it is a shock. From outside, nobody knows the reality.

Certainly, politicians will continue to act on their whims and in the interests of their party, but who cares for the helpless farmers.

It is obvious from the photograph that, though he is posing for the photo session, there are lines of frustration on the farmer’s face. The question is, why do the corporates want to build their projects on fertile land. There is so much land available that is not fertile; can’t they build their dream projects there?

Both the political parties are fighting for supremacy. Caught in between, the poor always suffer.
