Zandu AGM rescheduled

Mumbai, Sept. 1

Ayurveda-products maker Zandu Pharmaceutical Works Ltd has rescheduled its annual general meeting for September 24. The Mumbai-based Zandu had postponed its AGM that was earlier slated for August 9, after the Bombay High Court asked the Company Law Board to look into the corporate battle between Zandu and Emami and pass its order in about a fortnight. The CLB gave its order last week, saying that many of the allegations made by the companies had to be handled by SEBI or th e Central Government and hence the issue was outside its purview. Zandu is trying to stave off take over efforts from Emami, whose stake in Zandu increased to over 27 per cent through the purchase of shares from the Vaidyas (Zandu’s co-promoter family). Zandu shares closed today at Rs 18,203, up 5 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange. —
