Capt Mohan to head National Shipping Board

Capt. P.V.K. Mohan of Seaways Shipping has been nominated as the Chairman of the National Shipping Board for a two-year term with immediate effect, according to a statement.

The Board consists of four members of Parliament from the Lok Sabha and two members from the Rajya Sabha, besides technical people. It also has representatives from trade unions.

The board has been instrumental in contributing towards several developments both in the shipping and port sectors. Issues relating to training, manpower shortages and dredging activities were also taken up by the board in recent times.

Earlier, Capt. Mohan contributed as the Chairman of the Shipping Ministry’s High Powered Committee on Containerisation.
