Opinion - Letters
Too much latitude

“J&K: Call for firmness and imagination” (Business Line, September 1) hits the nail on the head. In the Army, we were told never to break the law of the land.

Similarly, the politicians in charge of the country are under oath to safeguard the integrity of the nation and its Constitution.

The freedoms granted under the Constitution are valid as long as the nation-state is protected.

I whole-heartedly support the framing of sedition charges wherever there is proof that anyone, whosoever he may be, has been preaching separatism. Also, those who disrupt traffic and the movement of vital cargoes and commodities should be punished severely.

Col (Retd) I. D. Sharma NOIDA
