Singur issue

The Singur imbroglio appears to be heading to a point of no return with reports of Tatas planning to pull out from Singur to locate the plant in a more hospitable location.

However there is a silver lining in the proposed talks between the government and the protesters in the presence of the Governor.

This is a classic case of handling a sensitive and difficult issue without the finesse required by the authorities.

If all the parties involved had been taken into confidence for consultations without using the State fiat and the problems looked into with care and consideration, the present situation would not arisen.
