Fertilisers Government - Policy States - Andhra Pradesh AP moves to tackle fertiliser shortage Our Bureau Hyderabad, Sept. 7 The Andhra Pradesh Government is gearing up to tackle the shortage of fertilisers in the State and announced a host of measures to improve the supply chain. It has formed a high-level panel with three senior officials from Railways to move fertilisers stocks to the areas where there is shortage and also monitoring the situation on an hour-to-hour basis, Mr K. Rosaiah, spokesperson for AP Cabinet and Minister for Health, told newspersons here on Sunday. “There will also be more effective measures such as distribution of fertilisers in fielding adjoining the railway tracks,” the Minister said. While agreeing that “there has been a shortage of fertilisers” in the State, Mr Rosaiah said the shortage was blown out of proportion by the Opposition parties. He attributed the shortage to the delay in allocation of fertilisers to States by the Centre and difficulties in moving stocks from godowns to the areas which had seen a sudden rainfall prompting the farmers to being sowing. The Government of India had little choice than to delay in fertiliser policy/allocation due to steep hike in the international prices of raw materials for fertilisers causing a huge drain on subsidies, he added. “But the situation is fairly under control and every farmer will get fertilisers,” he claimed.
