Education States - Andhra Pradesh AP seeks ISM university campus in Khammam Our Bureau Hyderabad, Sept. 7 The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has requested the Centre to set up a campus of Indian School of Mines (ISM) University in Khammam. In a letter to Mr Arjun Singh, Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Dr Reddy said the ISM University, Dhanbad had accepted the request to set up its campus in the State. The State would provide 300 acres in Khammam district for the proposed campus with all infrastructural facilities. “With over 120 years of mining history, Khammam is highly suitable for the university campus,” he said. The district has abundant natural minerals such as coal, iron ore dolomite, limestone, quartz, barites, copper, graphite, steatite, chromite, and red oxide, among others. It also has many industries based on mining such as Singareni Collieries Ltd, Sponge Iron India Ltd, Nava Bharat Ferro Alloys, etc, he said.
