BHEL ancillary units’ estate planned

Our Correspondent

Madurai, Sept. 7 The Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (Maditssia) is working on an exclusive industrial estate for BHEL ancillary units under cluster development programme on the outskirts of Madurai.

According to the association’s Vice-President, Mr N. Somasundaram, around 25 entrepreneurs have come forward to put up ancillary units in Madurai district as a result of a buyer-seller meet arranged with BHEL in January 2008 and subsequent visit to Trichy and discussions with BHEL officials and the ancillary units there.

Maditssia is planning an exclusive industrial estate for them on a 60-70-acre site that would provide employment to over 1,000 people directly and around 5,000 indirectly. Each ancillary unit would approximately require an investment of Rs 25 lakh with assured work contract for 10 years. Maditssia would render all support , Mr Somasundaram said.
