Arun Ramanathan gets DEA charge

New Delhi, Sept. 8

Mr Arun Ramanathan, Secretary, Financial Sector, has assumed additional charge of the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) in the Finance Ministry. He will hold additional charge of DEA for three months. The top slot in the DEA became vacant after Finance Secretary, Dr D. Subbarao, who was heading DEA, was appointed as Reserve Bank of India Governor. Mr Ramanathan is a 1973 batch Tamil Nadu cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. After Dr Subbarao moved to the Mint Street, Mr Ramanathan is now the senior most bureaucrat in the Finance Ministry. - Our Bureau
