Rajiv Gandhi airport gets jumbo cargo charters

Hyderabad, Sept. 9 The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has received two jumbo cargo charters (Boeing 747-200 and Boeing 747-400 F) last week.

“MK Airlines’ charter flight on behalf of Lufthansa Charter and FedEx’s charter plane picked up cargo at RGIA on September 6 and 7,” Mr A. Vishwanath, Chief Commercial Officer, RGIA, said here in a press release.

The Air Cargo Complex at the RGIA has a capacity to handle one lakh tonnes of cargo a year.

The ultimate cargo handling capacity would be 1.3 million tonnes a year when all the phases are completed, it added.
