Our Bureau Hyderabad, Sept. 9 Satyam Computers and AppLabs from the South were among the winners of the UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) India Business Awards 2008 announced on Tuesday in Mumbai. The two Hyderabad-based companies figure in the list. The awards celebrate India-UK business partnerships in terms of inward investment, collaborations, entrepreneurship and innovation. Satyam Computers won the Corporate Social Responsibility Award of the Year for the work of its foundations and the establishment of the Emergency Management Research Institute, which draws on Satyam’s technology to improve the responsiveness of India’s emergency services. AppLabs won the New Market Entrant of the Year (India into UK) for successfully managing integration of intellectual property and business processes of Indian and the UK operations to become the world’s largest independent global provider of testing facilities, according to a release from the British High Commission in Chennai. Aurobindo Pharma, another Hyderabad-based firm, was a final nominee in the Investor of the Year category; Amtek Auto won this award for investing in new markets to drive growth and acquire technology and expertise to become a front runner in the global automotive component industry.
