Impact Retail plans more showrooms under X-cite brand

Hyderabad, Sept. 10 Impact Retail Private Ltd, with presence in India and West Asia, plans to set up 30 exclusive showrooms by end of 2009 in the country.

A newly incorporated company promoted by Mr Tony Jashanmal, Impact Retail has forged a franchise and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) relationship with Alghanim Industries, a Kuwait-based conglomerate with interests in consumer electronics retail, auto retail and manufacturing.

Objective

The objective is to run its stores under the X-cite brand.

The stores offer consumer electronics under one roof, including home entertainment systems, televisions, audio and video products, computers and accessories and mobile phones.

“By the end of 2008 we are looking at setting up eight stores beginning with the first one inaugurated today in Hyderabad,” Mr Srikant Gokhale, Chief Executive Officer, Impact Retail Pvt Ltd, said while addressing a press conference here on Wednesday.

The company is looking at investment of around Rs 200 crore for setting up these 30 stores in the top 15 cities across the country.

Mr Gokhale said that the by the end of the year the stores will come up in Ahmedabad, Pune, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Delhi, Chandigarh and Ludhiana.

Investment

He added that the average store size would be 20,000 sq. ft and will require an investment of between Rs 5 crore and Rs 6 crore per store.

According to Mr Gokhale, the stores will focus on taking retailing beyond products by offering value added services.

“The value-added services include reward programmes, extended warranty offers, referral programmes, delivery and installation within 24 hours of purchasing the product, consumer financing, among others,” he said.
