Kolkata, Sept. 10 Star Health & Allied Insurance Company is planning to launch this year a health insurance product called ‘Eye Care’ for eye diseases. This is in association with Chennai-based eye hospital Sankara Nethralaya, according to Mr S. N. Dental care

The company also plans to launch shortly, for the first time in India, a tailor-made insurance product for dental diseases, ‘Dental Care’, he said on the sidelines of a conference organised here by i-Nova to launch a training programme for financial advisors.

“We are hoping to get the approvals for the two policies from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority this month and the formal launch of the policies will be announced once we get the approvals,” he said.

The company, which has tie-ups with 4,000 hospitals across the country, is also mulling a tie-up with Dr Devi Shetty’s chain of hospitals. It offers tailor-made health insurance products for diabetes and HIV-positive related diseases.

The company has 120 offices in the country, including six in the eastern zone, he said, adding that it plans to add five more offices in the east within the current fiscal.

Star Health & Allied Insurance collected Rs 168 crore of premium in 2007-08 and the target for the current fiscal has been set at Rs 400 crore, Mr Guha said. Till July, the collection amounted to Rs 230 crore.

Training course

The Kolkata based i-Nova Group, which is a corporate agent for Star Health & Allied Insurance and Birla Sun Life Insurance, launched on Wednesday a free of cost training course for financial advisors. The company plans to employ 35,000 people by 2009, said Mr Jayanta Chakraborty, Chairman and Managing Director, i-Nova.
