Tea Tea prices dearer at Coimbatore sale Our Bureau Coimbatore, Sept. 10 The total offerings of tea at the weekly auction held at the Tea Trade Association in Coimbatore on Friday amounted to 4.82 lakh kg with leaf grades accounting for 1.97 lakh kg and the balance 2.85 lakh kg of dust. There was limited quantity of orthodox leaf on offer and these met fair export enquiry. The Nilgiris larger leaf grades and brokens quoted dearer by Rs 2. CIS and West Asian exporters lent fair support. Internal enquiry was limited and HUL, silent. There was fair export demand for orthodox dust. CTC leaf grades witnessed good demand. The best ones were quoting dearer by up to Rs 2. The medium/plainer bolder grades were dearer to firm and the rest dearer up to Rs 2. There was good demand for CTC dust. Some select teas shot up by up to Rs 6 and sometimes more on finer grades. Plainer sorts followed the same trend. Best high grown CTC dust moved in the Rs 86-97 range band, the medium ones Rs 73-83, and the plain grades Rs 68-70. Best high grown orthodox brokens ranged between Rs 92 and 96 and the Orthodox dust (medium) Rs 62-70. More Stories on : Tea
