Kochi to host Golden Leaf awards

The next edition of the Golden Leaf India Awards will be held at Kochi in February. The awards, for best tea in various categories, will be held along with the India International Tea Convention, said Mr N. Dharmaraj, Convenor of the organising committee of the competition. The event is being held to popularise the quality of south Indian teas and according to Mr Dharmaraj, it has helped in galvanising quality improvement initiatives by the sector. At the 115th United Planters' Association annual conference, the Golden Leaf India awards for the best teas were given away by Mr P.K. Choudhery, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce.
