Suzlon Energy bags Romania order

Mumbai, Sept.11

Suzlon Energy A/S, the Europe and Latin America arm of Suzlon Energy Ltd, announced on Thursday that it has secured an order from Romania for supplying 29 S88 turbines (2.1 MW) wind turbines, which will add to a total capacity of 60.9 MW, a company release said. It is the first order for the company from the east European country. It won the order along with Martifer Group of Portugal, which has major interest in energy and construction industry. Both companies have also s igned a contract for the supply of nine S88 turbines between the Baião and Vila Franca de Xira wind farms in Portugal for a total capacity of 18.9 MW. The order for Romania is already part of the consolidated order book position of the company as declared on July 30. Mr Toine van Megen, CEO, Suzlon Energy Ltd, said: “The order represents not only the rapid globalisation of our business, but also the value proposition Sulzon presents to clients. We are very pleased to partner with Martifer; this represents an important milestone in our European expansion,” he said.
