Difficult to absorb 39 casual workers, says Paradip port

Our Bureau

Kolkata, Sept. 11

The Paradip Port Trust is finding it difficult to absorb on permanent roll 39 casual workers of the port’s materials management department despite the court order upholding their absorption.

The problem has arisen because the workers are yet furnish the relevant information about their date of birth, age, father’s name and other details as required under the law by the port authorities.

Also, the port authorities are yet to receive the Ministry’s approvals for 39 new posts. The personal particulars furnished by the workers initially to the port authorities were not accepted because of some discrepancies.

The information submitted to the port authorities were at variance with those available with the court.

The port authorities, therefore, suggested to the workers to submit the information in a given format.

However, the workers are yet to respond to the port authorities’ suggestion.

“Unless the workers submit the information in the format we require, we’ll not be able to absorb them even after the receipt of the Ministry’s approvals”, observe port sources.
