Putting forward the Innovation Campus concept located in the university, Mr Gerard Sutton, Vice-Chancellor, University of Wollongong, said, “Considering the skills shortage in Australia, this would be a great opportunity for Indian companies looking for a presence there to be located to the university to attract talent from the campus.” Mr Sutton said that apart from IT companies, the university would also invite companies in the biotechnology, nanotechnology, engineering, mining and finance sectors to establish their centres on the Innovation Campus. The Innovation Campus is a $500-million research and development centre that would also offer cost benefits for Indian organisations that want to establish or expand their presence in the Asia Pacific/Oceania region through an Australian base, he said.
