‘Minimise power cuts in UP units’

New Delhi, Sept. 12

The PHD Chamber has urged the Uttar Pradesh Government to minimise power cuts on industrial consumers. Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd in a recent order has imposed power cuts on all industrial units from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on a daily basis in addition to scheduled and unscheduled cuts during the day. In a letter to the Minister of Power, Uttar Pradesh Government and the State Chief Secretary, Mr Shishir Jaipuria, Chairman, UP Committee, PHD Chamber, lamented that the i ndustry in UP is suffering a daily production loss of an estimated Rs 100 crore because of recent power restrictions. Mr Jaipuria stated that by continuance of this order, viability of units involved in manufacturing and processing of textile, leather, steel, engineering would particularly erode as they work round the clock and require continuous power supply. — Our Bureau
