Mr Ashok Chawla, a 1973 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Gujarat Cadre, on Wednesday joined as Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) in the Finance Ministry. An official release said that Mr Chawla, a post graduate in economics, had held the post of Deputy Secretary, Director, Additional Secretary and Special Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs before joining as Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation from February 1, 2007. He had also worked as Joint Secretary and Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilisers, the release added. - Our Bureau
