Drug haul worth Rs 52 lakh

Hyderabad, Sept. 19

Sleuths of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence here seized ephedrine, a substance used to make narcotics and addictive drugs, worth Rs 52 lakh in raids conducted in Hyderabad and Nellore. The value of the seized material in the international illegal market is estimated to be over Rs 40 crore. According to a release, the officials raided six premises, in Nellore and seized 700 kg of ephedrine and 850 kg of acetic anhydride (a chemical required in the production of ephed rine). — Our Bureau
