Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Sept. 19 TVS Motor Company on Friday announced it has delivered about 2.5 lakh Apache RTR bikes in the country since its launch about three years ago.

With an expanded portfolio in the Apache range, the company expects to garner a market share of about 15 per cent in the premium bike segment — above 150 cc .

The company hosted a mass delivery function here today wherein about 250 bikes were handed over to customers. The Vice-President, Sales, TVS Motor Company, Mr R. Dilip, in a statement said Apache is the result of TVS’s racing heritage and has been designed to woo youngsters both on looks and performance.

Mr Dilip said that on an average about 60,000 to 70,000 bikes are sold a month depending upon market trends. With the addition of another model in the Apache range —RTI Fi, which is fuel injected model — the company expects to expand its share of premium bike range.

RTR Fi is now being offered in select cities and would gradually be marketed across the country.

This will further expand the volumes. The new Apache RTR 160 has been positioned as performance bike, he said. Mr Dilip said Apache as a brand has had rapid growth this year.

As against 4 per cent year-on-year growth in the premium bike segment , TVS has registered a growth of about 32 per cent in this segment.

According to TVS officials, Andhra Pradesh is currently the second largest market for premium bikes after Delhi.

Of the average monthly sales target of about 15,000 bikes, the company sees itself marketing about 13,000 bikes in the country and export about 2,000 bikes.
