Project cargoes move thru NMPT

Mangalore, Sept. 19

New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) has started handling project cargoes of various users. A press release issued by NMPT said here on Friday that for the first time, windmills with 42 metres length have arrived at the port from the Suzlon plant at Padubidri in Udupi district for export. Mr S. Gopalakrishna, Traffic Manager of NMPT, told Business Line that 17 cages (each with two blades of 42-metres length) have already arrived at the port from Suzlon for export. They will be shipped to their export destination soon. The release said that more project cargoes have started moving through NMPT due to the port's intervention and pro-active marketing strategy. Hitherto, these cargoes were handled at neighbouring ports. - Our Bureau
