Our Bureau

Chennai, Sept. 19 “Knowledge is replacing capital and is today central not only to information technology companies but also in every sector,” according to Dr J.K. Suresh, Chief Knowledge Officer, Infosys Technologies.

So far, companies have used knowledge management only in operational than strategic functioning. This needs to change and companies need to focus more on using knowledge management in their strategy, he said at the launch of K-Community, an initiative of the CII National Knowledge Mission in Chennai.

K-Community will act as a platform to share thoughts, conversations, frameworks, case studies and best practices to further the cause of knowledge management as a practice. The first K-Community meeting was held on Friday at Tata Consultancy Services in Sholinganallur.

Mr Sukumar Rajagopal, Co-Chairman, Knowledge Management Forum, CII-Southern Region and Chief Knowledge Officer, Cognizant Technology Solutions, said knowledge today is in the physical form and needs to be made virtual. This can happen only through a collaborative effort involving all stakeholders.Mr Arun Venkatraman, Enterprise Architect, TCS, said the next generation knowledge management should be used as a “transformation platform” that will have a solution for every stakeholder in a company to improve personal and group productivity.
