CSL floats three platform supply ships

Kochi, Sept. 23 Cochin Shipyard Ltd on Tuesday launched more than one ship at a time, which comprises three platform supply vessels.

The company had earlier launched five Platform Supply vessels in June. One of these vessels floated today was BY-63, the eighth ship being built for Deep Sea Supply, Norway. The other two vessels are for Hellespont Steamship Corporation, Greece. All three ships are of Rolls Royce 755 design.

These ships are highly sophisticated and fitted with dynamic positioning systems, which enable vessels to automatically maintain their position at sea accurately. These vessels are workhorses of the offshore industry. All three ships are equipped with special equipment. It can combat oil fires in offshore installations.

The float was conducted at a function with the dock being flooded at the press of a button Mr C.K.Thomas, Executive Director of CSL. Mr N.M. Paramesh, Director (Finance), and Cmde K.Subramaniam, Director (Operations), were also present.
