Bangalore, Sept. 24 Saint-Gobain India Gypsum, leading provider of false ceiling and drywall partition solutions, has set up a manufacturing facility here with an investment of Rs 150 crore with a capacity to produce 15 million sq m plasterboard.

The gypsum unit is part of the Rs 2,000-crore Saint-Gobain Group, which has a diverse business ranging from construction, engineering and flat glass products.

The Bangalore unit is the 17th production site for Saint Gobain India Gypsum, with other sites located in Jind (near Delhi), Wada (near Mumbai) and Chennai. The Banglore Plant will serve the fast growing and large South Indian market, a company release said.

The plant also has a Drywall Academy which will help train contractors and their teams on the latest techniques and systems in the field of lightweight construction techniques using plasterboard systems. The key advantage of drywall partition plasterboard systems is that it helps speed up construction time of interiors by close to 30-40 per cent and is 8-10 times lighter as compared to conventional masonry systems, while at the same time providing superior performance in terms of fire rating, acoustics and aesthetics.
