Tea Uptrend in prices at Kochi tea auction Our Bureau Kochi, Sept. 25 There was a good demand for CTC dust teas from major blenders as well as loose tea traders at the Kochi tea auction. Bolder CTC dust witnessed a good demand from industrial buyers. Both high grown and medium leaf tea witnessed good enquiry from exporters and they moved up much higher in value. CTC leaf also found good enquiry from exporters and inter-State buyers. Arrivals were lower at 8.65 lakh kg at the dust tea auction where CTC dust moved up by Rs 4-8. Orthodox high grown remained steady while medium orthodox was dearer by Rs 2-5. Best CTC varieties were at Rs 102-128, medium CTC fetched Rs 95-110 and below medium quoted Rs 80-95. High grown BOPD realised Rs 110-120, medium BOPD was at Rs 75-76 and secondaries quoted Rs 65-75. Leaf SaleThere was 3.53 lakh kg on offer at the leaf auction where prices remained firm to dearer. Best Nilgiri leaf fetched Rs 110-140, medium orthodox was at Rs 95-120 and plain orthodox quoted Rs 90-100. Best CTC leaf fetched Rs 85-100 while medium CTC leaf was at Rs 80-85. In the dust segment, Pasuparai SFD fetched the top price at Rs 128 followed by Surianelli SFD, Monica SFD and Chinnar SFD all quoting Rs 126. At the leaf auction, Chamraj FOP and Glendale OP quoted the top price of Rs 155, followed by Sutton OP at Kilkotagiri FOP at Rs 150. More Stories on : Tea
