VSP may get navaratna status

Visakhapatnam, Sept. 25

Visakhapatnam Steel Plant may get the navaratna status if the Cabinet Committee gives a favourable recommendation, according to Mr P.K Rastogi, Secretary (Steel). On a maiden visit to the steel plant on Thursday, Mr Rastogi complimented the staff and officials of the plant for the "remarkable turnaround achieved by the company." He said once the plant was on the verge of being referred to the BIFR and had since then travelled a long distance to be recognised as `mini ratna' company. He expressed the optimism that the Cabinet committee would recommend navaratna status to the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL). It would improve the brand image of the company. - Our Bureau
