Standards & Benchmarks Quality contest for vendors Our Bureau New Delhi, Sept. 25 With the objective of increasing cost competitiveness among its suppliers and in turn improving its own efficiency, Maruti Suzuki has organised a quality competition for its vendors. This is the first time that the company has initiated such an event. Led by Mr S. K. Arya, Chairman, JBM Auto and Treasurer of Maruti Suzuki Suppliers Welfare Association, comprising 80 vendors, the competition hopes to bring people from the shopfloor and middle management at a common platform to address significant business issues. In the first round of competition for the northern region, Asahi India Glass Ltd, Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd and Shri Ram Pistons & Rings Ltd were declared winners while SKH Metals Ltd, Pricol Ltd, and Lumax Industries Ltd were declared runners up. The companies would now participate at an all-India level competition which would be held in the last week of October. Maruti would let the winning company make a presentation at Suzuki Motor Corporation headquarters in Japan. “This is a great learning tool to help organisations cut their learning curve and assist the industry set new benchmarks. Such competition will not only prove to be beneficial in achieving employee satisfaction and recognition but will enable the company to achieve higher profits and newer milestones,” said Mr S. K.
