Students devise plasma cutting tool

Kochi, Sept. 26

A CNC (computer numeric control) plasma cutting machine capable of cutting mild steel, copper, brass and aluminum has been designed and developed by two students in the city. CNC plasma cutting has established as the most cost-effective cutting technology for most applications. Mr Antony and Mr Shanavas, who developed the technology, said that this computer-controlled machine can cut any designs, patterns or graphics. Moreover, the cutting generates least flux/slag thereby increasing productivity. CNC Plasma cutting is up to 4 times faster than traditional methods and has a duty cycle of 100 per cent. –
