Tata Motors files writ petition

Kolkata, Sept. 26

J ustice Dipankar Dutta of Calcutta High Court on Friday allowed the writ petition of Tata Motors Ltd, asking for a court order not to publish the agreement entered into among Tata Motors, the State of West Bengal and West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) for construction of the project to manufacture the small car. While allowing the writ petition, the court set aside the order of the West Bengal Information Commissioner directing WBIDC to publish the agreement on its Web site. The court also directed the Information Commissioner to re-hear the appeal of the private party within eight weeks. Earlier, on September 12, 2008, Tata Motors had filed an application praying for an order not to publish the agreement. The court granted stay of such publication. – Our Legal Correspondent
